Γεια σας! Καλώς ήρθατε πάλι σε ένα άλλο διαδικτυακό μάθημα!
VCE
Today I want to move on to a short topic on planning for the future. Think
study, jobs, travel, etc. This is related to the oral worksheet we have been
working with, but is mainly in preparation for your oral
SAC that will take place on Thursday May 21.
-
Updates to study design Please look at the adjusted study design for 2020
on the VCAA
website
for a summary of the adjustments in response to the COVID-19 situation. (The
purple box at the top of the page.)
For Unit 3, the only difference seems to be a slight increase in the weight
of the SACs. For Unit 4 there is a slight decrease in the weight of the SACs.
There has also been a reduction in word limit and time for SACs 1 and 2.
- Σχέδια για το μέλλον Read the future plans of Άννα, Μάριος, Γιώργος and
Νίνα from chapter 7 of the GCSE II book. Identify the vocabulary and phrasing
that you think will be useful for you in your SAC preparation. Answer the
questions in box B on the next page for yourself in a way similar to what we
did for the oral worksheet, i.e. model the answers in different ways. How
will you incorporate this into the SAC discussion?
-
Gap year Explore the information on this
website, much of the discussion
is very useful for preparing for the SAC. Answer the following questions by
exploring the website:
- Σύμφωνα με την ιστοσελίδα, ποιες είναι οι καλές περίοδοι για να κάνει κανείς gap year;
- Ποιά είναι τα πλεονεκτήματα και μειονεκτήματα της διακοπής σπουδών;
Δηλαδή, γιατί να (μην) κάνει κανείς gap year;
- Ποιες εργασίες είναι κατάλληλες για αυτούς που θέλουν να κάνουν gap year; Γιατί;
- Τί είναι το συνάλλαγμα, η βίζα και το διαβατήριο; Για ταξίδια στην
Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση χρειάζονται αυτά για έναν Έλληνα πολίτη; Για έναν Αυστραλό
πολίτη χρειάζονται;
- Είναι λογικό να μένει κανείς σε ξενοδοχεία για το gap year; Που μπορείς να
μείνεις κατά την διάρκεια του χρόνου;
The phrase “gap year” does not have a direct translation into Greek. This
website uses the English phrase. I would recommend using Greek phrases like
“διακοπή σπουδών” or “διάλειμμα σπουδών” (study break), but feel free to say
something like “αυτό που λέμε στα Αγγλικά gap year” in the SAC. This blog
post
may also be useful in answering the questions and planning how the
discussion will go. There is a video on the site in English that can give
you good arguments for taking a gap year.
- Listening comprehension Listen to this
discussion between a mother and her
son about buying a mobile phone. Respond to the questions
here in English. The audio file
plays the text twice, and gives you a break in the middle to gather your
thoughts and take notes.
- Text-type practice Last week we discussed the speech and persuasive
writing text types. This week I would like you to write a 250-300 word piece
on one of the following topics:
-
Γράψε μία αναφορά, η οποία θα δημοσιευτεί σε μία τοπική εφημερίδα, για τα
πλεονεκτήματα και μειονεκτήματα της διακοπής σπουδών για ταξίδι. Στην
αξιολόγησή σου να συμπεριλάβεις δύο πλεονεκτήματα και δύο
μειονεκτήματα.
Write a report, which is to be published in a local newspaper, on the
advantages and disadvantages of taking a gap year. In your evaluation,
include two advantages and two disadvantages.
-
Γράψε το κείμενο ομιλίας που θα παρουσιάσεις στην επόμενη σχολική
συγκέτρωση για τα μελλοντικά σχέδιά σου.
Write the script for a speech that you will present at the next school
assembly about your future plans.
- Submit your work for steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 at this
link before 4:00 PM
Thursday May 14.
Years 9 and 10
- Numbers and times Study the forms of the numbers one, three and four in
Greek. These are given in a table on page 22 (chapter 3) of the GCSE I
textbook.
- Look at and read through the examples on pages 23-25 in the GCSE I textbook.
- Read the distance material worksheet
10 pages 7 and 8 on telling the time
in Greek. All exercises refer to the distance material worksheet. Complete
exercises 5 and 6, correcting them yourself (answers are at the end of the
material). Remember that the feminine forms of the numbers are used when
telling the time because ώρα is feminine.
- School life To build up some more school-specific vocab for our oral
test, read through the vocab given on page 11 of the distance worksheet 10.
Complete exercise 8, 9 and 10 and submit them
here before next
lesson. For exercise 9 you will need this audio
file.
